Up in smoke. Failures in promise Wilmar to clean up the palm oil business
7 december 2015 - In the autumn of 2015, billions of tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions (CO2 equivalent) were released into the atmosphere from forest and peat fires in Indonesia. As this report shows, some of these fires can be traced to companies that supply or are owned by Wilmar International, a company that spurred a dramatic wave of sustainability pledges in the palm oil sector in December 2013 when it adopted a commitment to “No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation.”
